Our founders were not dancers – they were curious and interested movers. Our workshops underline the founders' belief that a drive to dance and create is ingrained in our DNA. Whether you train regularly, haven't taken a class in 20 years, or have never danced a step, there is a place for you in our Summer Workshop Series. Come discover, explore, and share an experience like no other. Adults may register for one to three weeks of the summer workshop series.

WEEK 1:

TECHNIQUE & PHILOSOPHY

Weds July 17 to Sun July 21
9:00am - 5:00pm

Open to anyone from non-dancers to experienced performers, this workshop is designed to build community and reawaken the senses. Sessions are playful, group-driven, physically challenging, and fun. Participants connect through touch, sight, and sound, using their senses to improve communication. Workshops include daily improvisation and collaborative creation. The week culminates in a showing for invited guests and friends.

WEEK 2:

PERFORMANCE: ONSTAGE AND BEYOND

Weds July 24 to Sun July 28
9:00am - 5:00pm

Experience the Pilobolus creation and performance process first-hand. In this workshop participants expand on creative impulses, using all of their senses to connect and engage with collaborators. The workshop examines how dancers can use their sense of touch, sight, and sound to improve creativity and performance. The intensive includes rigorous physical training, improvisation, partnering, and collaborative choreography, capped off with a works-in-progress showing.

WEEK 3:

CREATION: VISION AND REVISION

Weds July 31 to Sun Aug 4
9:00am - 5:00pm

This workshop explores the depth of the group choreographic process; not just creating, but developing work. The process relies on each individual's knowledge of complex partnering, choreography, collaboration, and direction. Choreographers dig deep in the creative process, as they re-work, polish, edit, and revise. The week culminates with a showing of collaboratively created works. Previous Pilobolus Workshop participation strongly recommended.
